Wind Tunnel Models. Our experience in creating engineering models for the oil and gas industry dates back to 1993 with the provision of a rudimentary wind tunnel test model of the British Gas Armada platform to validate fledgling computer simulations.
Gas Explosion Models. Industrial gas explosions constitute a major hazard. Despite precautions, accidental explosion remains a risk. Explosion modelling provides the ability to anticipate potential consequences and take mitigating measures.
The sophisticated CAD software used by Armada has also been employed by us to generate a geometrically accurate model especially for CFD explosion simulations.
The video* embedded in this page is an illustration of the type of CFD explosion simulation mentioned above. Situated within a gas metering enclosure, it involves a stoichiometric concentration of methane in air.
The animation covers the time period from 0.246 to 0.375 seconds after ignition and has been slowed down by a factor of 100. Over-pressures are plotted between 0.1 bar (blue) and 0.3 bar (red). The roof of the enclosure has been made transparent to allow visualization.
Coordination of Wind Tunnel Studies. Within Armada there is wind tunnel testing experience spanning 15 years, which allows us to provide a complete management package for wind tunnel studies - from initial quote to final report. Relax as everything is coordinated in a seamless fashion. Customer review at the critical stages helps ensure a timely conclusion to the project.
On-site measurements. In addition to wind tunnel studies, Armada also has a project manager experienced in recording, processing and reporting on data relating to on-site wind-environment studies.

Armada uses either hard copy drawings or, more often, CAD files to create its models. CAD files are particularly useful as they can usually be emailed directly and imported straight into Armada's modelling software.
