Engineering Experience
Rob has experience in motor vehicle, aerospace and offshore engineering.
A degree in aeronautical engineering at Manchester University, was
followed by research into the crosswind stability of motor vehicles
at Cranfield Institute of Technology (now Cranfield University) - as
this gratuitously funky video testifies.
Rob worked for the International Ecotechnology Research Centre and
was responsible for the initial wind tunnel testing of the E-auto (forerunner
of the Aero Stable Carbon Car). The E-auto was a concept offering a
low impact on the environment with a target drag coefficient of 0.2.

Working for Offshore Environmental Services Ltd involved wind tunnel
testing, running computer simulations and recording and analysing measurments
taken offshore.
A spell at British Aerospace provided variety of experience, including
assisting with Eurofighter development aircraft test flight monitoring.

Rob's motoring pursuits have included rally marshalling, restoration
of a VW Beetle and Motorsport photography - an example of which was
published last year.
Outside work, Rob was an Air Cadet gliding instructor for eleven years,
and was also part of a team that restored and flew a vintage Grasshopper
glider.
